My Best Friend Told Everyone I Was Pregnant As A Joke And Now I’m Getting Hate Messages

My best friend Sarah has always been the “funny one.”

She loves practical jokes.

Usually they’re harmless.

This wasn’t.

She told our entire friend group that I was pregnant.

She even created a fake ultrasound picture.

Within hours, people were congratulating me.

I was confused because I wasn’t pregnant.

Then my phone exploded.

Friends accused me of lying.

One person messaged:

“How could you joke about something so serious?”

I eventually discovered Sarah had told everyone that I had announced my pregnancy to her privately and asked her to keep it secret.

So when I denied it, people thought I was backtracking.

I confronted Sarah.

She laughed.

“It’s obviously a joke.”

I asked why she hadn’t told everyone that immediately.

She said she wanted to see how long I would keep pretending.

Then I discovered something else.

She had told my boyfriend that I was pregnant too.

He had apparently panicked and called her.

That’s when the joke stopped being funny.

Because Sarah had secretly been telling people for months that my relationship wasn’t stable.

She had apparently been trying to convince him that I was going to “trap” him with a baby.

When I confronted her, she finally admitted the truth.

She was jealous.

Not of my relationship.

Of my life.

She said everyone was always asking me about my career, my apartment, my relationship.

Nobody asked her anything.

So she created a crisis where everyone would have to pay attention to her.

I ended the friendship.

But the strangest thing happened afterward.

Several people apologized to me.

One of them said:

“Sarah has been telling stories about you for over a year. The pregnancy thing was just the first time we caught her lying.”

Apparently, I hadn’t lost one friend.

I had lost the person who had been quietly poisoning my friendships for years.
