My Neighbor’s Dog Has Been Attacking My Cat And They Refuse To Keep It Leashed

My cat has never been aggressive.

She avoids people.

She avoids other animals.

She mostly sleeps on the windowsill.

So when she came home with a deep scratch on her side, I knew something was wrong.

A few days later, I saw my neighbor’s dog chasing her.

The dog was enormous.

It ran straight into my yard.

I managed to get my cat inside.

I went next door and asked the owners to keep their dog leashed.

They laughed.

They said:

“Our dog is a sweetheart.”

I showed them the scratch.

They said my cat must have started it.

Two weeks later, it happened again.

This time, my cat needed veterinary treatment.

I confronted them again.

They told me:

“He’s never hurt anything.”

I installed cameras around my property.

The footage showed something very different.

Their dog wasn’t simply wandering around.

Their teenage son was deliberately opening the gate and letting the dog run loose.

I showed the footage to his parents.

They were furious.

Not at their son.

At me.

They accused me of spying on their family.

Then something strange happened.

The dog escaped again.

But this time, it didn’t attack my cat.

It ran straight toward my neighbor’s backyard shed.

The camera caught their son following it.

He opened the shed door.

Inside was something I couldn’t identify.

I called animal control and the police.

They investigated.

The shed contained several injured wild animals.

The teenager had apparently been capturing animals and using the dog to chase them.

The dog wasn’t naturally aggressive.

The boy had been training it to attack.

My cat had simply been the first animal that got close enough.

The family was devastated.

The dog was removed from the home temporarily.

The teenager was placed into a juvenile intervention program.

My cat recovered.

The strangest part?

The parents kept insisting their dog was “perfect.”

Maybe he was.

Maybe the real problem was the person teaching him what to do.
