My Husband’s Ex-Wife Shows Up At Our House Unannounced And My Husband Lets Her In

My husband’s ex-wife has been showing up at our house for almost a year.

Sometimes she brings coffee.

Sometimes she says she needs to “talk.”

Sometimes she doesn’t even have a reason.

The part that bothers me isn’t that she comes.

It’s that my husband always lets her in.

They sit together.

Drink coffee.

Laugh about old memories.

I’m expected to be polite.

One morning, she arrived while I was getting ready for work.

She walked straight into the kitchen.

She knew where everything was.

Then she opened our refrigerator.

I asked my husband why he allowed this.

He said:

“She’s family.”

I reminded him that they were divorced.

He said:

“We were married for twelve years.”

I started feeling like a guest in my own home.

Then one afternoon, I came home early.

The ex-wife was in our bedroom.

She was holding one of our wedding albums.

I asked what she was doing.

She said:

“I was looking for something.”

I asked what.

She wouldn’t answer.

Later that night, I found out.

She had been looking for a letter.

Apparently, during their divorce, my husband had written her a letter promising her part of an inheritance.

The inheritance had never existed at the time.

But now, years later, my husband had received money from his father’s estate.

His ex-wife believed she was entitled to part of it.

My husband had never told me.

He had been secretly discussing it with her.

Then I discovered something even worse.

He wasn’t giving her money because he wanted her back.

He owed her.

Apparently, during their marriage, he had secretly borrowed money from her to start his business.

He never repaid it.

The ex-wife had been coming to our house because she wanted the debt settled.

My husband had hidden it from me for years.

I wasn’t angry that he owed her money.

I was angry that he had built our marriage on a financial secret involving his ex.

We eventually agreed on a repayment plan.

But I told him the house was no longer open to surprise visitors.

His ex-wife understood.

And surprisingly, once the money issue was resolved, she stopped coming over.

I realized something.

Maybe she wasn’t trying to steal my husband.
