I Was Disinvited From My Own Baby Shower Because I Didn’t Register At The Right Store

My friend volunteered to organize my baby shower.
At first, I was grateful.
She told me she’d handle everything.
I created a registry at Target because it was convenient for everyone.
A few days later, she called me.
She sounded angry.
“Why did you register there?”
I said:
“Because it’s affordable.”
She said the shower was supposed to be elegant.
Apparently, she had planned everything around a luxury baby boutique.
I told her I didn’t need expensive gifts.
She said I was ruining her plans.
The next morning, I received a message.
She said:
“I think it’s best if you don’t come.”
To my own baby shower.
I thought it was a joke.
It wasn’t.
She told me the guests had already been informed.
Then my sister called me.
She said:
“You need to come anyway.”
Apparently, something wasn’t right.
My friend had been telling everyone the shower was for her.
She had created a registry filled with expensive products.
Designer stroller.
Luxury crib.
High-end baby clothes.
Most of them weren’t even things I wanted.
She planned to return the gifts afterward and keep the store credit.
That’s why she needed me registered at that boutique.
The baby shower wasn’t really for me.
It was a shopping event she was using to collect expensive gifts.
My sister confronted her.
The friend finally admitted it.
She said:
“I did all the work. I deserved something.”
The shower was canceled.
My family organized a small one at my mother’s house instead.
No expensive decorations.
No luxury registry.
Just people who actually wanted to celebrate the baby.
I haven’t spoken to that friend since.
And honestly, I’m grateful she uninvited me.
Otherwise, I might never have discovered what she was really planning.
